I really liked this series and it is very well written. the story is intriguing mainly because of the memory loss or manipulation thing but i guess it will be clarified in the next book...
except there is no next book, i am kind of upset about it because i really was looking forward to see the end of this series, but no, there is no next book, i read the author's blog and it is said in there that the next book was coming out some time in the 6 months after this released but no, no book nowhere to be found. i hope i could get it but it's been a while since this series come out.
over all is a good book / series, no closure but a good series
I really liked the first book in this series and I was really excited to read this book to find out what was going to happen next. Unfortunately I just couldn't get in to this book like I did with the first one. I'm not sure why this happened. I don't think this book was as good as the first one. I am looking forward to reading the last book in this series though. I am hoping that the final book will tie everything together and have a really good ending. I have read Ember-X and Shattered Promises by this author and I absolutely LOVED them both! I can't wait to read the rest of those two series! This is a great author! )
The 2nd book, "Darkness Breaks," is sooo much better than the 1st! While the 1st book was necessary to set up the main storyline & introduce the reader to the characters, "Darkness Falls" (on its own) didn't have me completely invested in the characters yet. Still, it was definitely a unique & intriguing idea for a story, & had enough suspense to hold my interest. LUCKILY, I listened to the reviews for Book 2, which promised that the 2nd book was even better & more amazing-definitely true!!! "Darkness Breaks" has a ton of revelations & memories surfacing, & explains a lot of unanswered questions. Revealing more of the characters' backgrounds made the plot even more twisted & unique! I LOVE Kayla & Sylas...they truly made this book absolutely un-putdownable! NEED the 3rd one ASAP...isn't it supposed to be released soon?!?!
I first read this book like the day it came out... and then i read it again and again and once more a couple days ago to refresh my memory for the next one.
I abso-freaking-lutely love this series.
Ok... so I really love anything Jessica Sorensen writes (she simply can do no wrong), but this is definitely at the top of the list.
Sylas is my favorite, he's just.... the best. I am so attached to him, he's arrogant and a jerk, but he's loving and protective and so caring. Don't get me wrong, I love Aiden too.. just not for Kayla.
The story is amazing, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Like literally I couldn't read parts of this while relaxing on the couch or in bed..no... I was sitting up, biting my nails so excited to know what happens next. And the last couple chapters? I was in tears.

I simply cannot wait for the next one, it's killing me not to know what happens next.
I don't know how she does it. She writes fantasy, new adult, apocalyptica, young adult, all these different genres, yet hooks you every one of them. Jessica Sorenson is a very talented author.

This book is the second in a post-apocalyptic series. Heroine Kayla, was created by mad-scientist, Monarch, who Kayla sees as a father figure. We find out in this book that Kayla and her two friends, brothers Aiden and Sylas, were kidnapped as children to be experimented on in the creation of a virus to turn people into the perfect beings vampires. But something went wrong along the way and the mad-scientists ended up creating what can only be described as blood-thirsty zombies, not the beautiful, powerful, perfect undead creatures that we intended. Kayla is the hope of mankind, created to"fix" the world.

The only problem is that she doesn't remember what she is supposed to do. Her memories return, little by little, and she gets glimpses of her mission, but runs into trouble along the way.

A fantastic story. As unbelievable as the premise is, Jessica tells the tale in such a way that it becomes believable. I can't almost hear the vampires howling outside my door as the sun sets...
All I can say is wow. I read the first one which was free and was instantly sucked in. I think the first book had one of the best opening lines ever but as much as I liked the first book and expected the second one to be just as good I was completely blown away. The second book was just so awesome and even better than the first. You get to find out a little bit more about what all is going on. The characters continue to grow and change in so many amazing ways. I honestly don't get how books like Maze Runner can be in every freaking store and on the NY Times bestsellers list while a truly great book like this isn't. Darkness Falls 1 and 2 deserve to be in every book store, Walmart, etc that is around. Not only are the chracters so much more believable but the storyline itself is just so much more imaginative. I'm eagerly awaiting the third book and will be buying it the second it comes out. My only complaint is that now I have to wait for the next one. Jessica Sorensen is a very good writer who seems to get better and better as she goes. I'm still amazed at how many mysteries within mysteries are within these books and I'd bet anything the last book is going to totally throw out some stuff that none of us will see coming. I can't wait!!!
