I loved Tainted Dreams, the long awaited sequel to Along the Way Home. It didn't disappoint. Christi is bound to become a well known author writing books like these which included adventure, villains, an unsung hero, romance, sadness, happiness and humor. Kate learns some hard and painful lessons in life and changes from the spoiled rich girl out to prove herself to someone who discovers the best things in life can't be bought with money. There are so many misunderstandings between her and Jake I wanted to sit them down together and explain what idiots they both were at times ;-). I really got caught up in the book and let out a huge sigh that I didn't have to wait for another one to find out how it ends. Christi you did an amazing job. I hope you are in the process of writing your next book.

Tainted Dreams follows Kate and Jake into Oregon after their difficult journey in Corbett's debut novel, Along the Way Home. This book is packed with suspense and was impossible to put down. Her characters were vivid and depicted well in her writing. The descriptions drew me in. Would highly recommend this novel to readers with a sense of adventure.
This is book 2, first is Along way home. This book covers the arrival of their destination and many problems they encounter. Kate is not prepared for the fact unmarried women have few rights. Jake deals with a powerful enemy trying to seduce Kate.
This book only covers a short time period compared to the first. In some areas too much was written about unimportant events such as bathing, washing and mending clothes. I felt it also ended quickly. I expected more to their story in this book.
May 2015 excellent. Kate & Jake. This sequel to Along the Way Home does not disappoint. A fascinating story about one woman's determination to fulfill her dream of starting a horse ranch in the Oregon territory. Although Kate loves Jake, she wants the independence of making her own way in the wild & untamed territory. She comes up against some mighty tough odds. Her victory seems hollow without Jake to love. A very well written story.
I really enjoyed this story. It is very true to the time period of the setting. I looked forward to this sequel since reading book one and find that this author has the ability to make me keep thinking about the characters long after the last page and the book is closed. I find myself wishing for "just one more" bit to their adventure. I tried to read it slowly but by the halfway stage I just didn't put it down. The villain's nephew seems like a nice guy but he is weak and pampered and I hope Jake watches his back as I didn't trust him. If there was a book three,I bet he would be trouble . I hope the author takes the hint and gives us just one more
I loved this book. I read the first one and have been waiting for this one to come out for what seems like forever. It didn't disappoint! The story of Jake and Kate continued into Oregon City. Their adorable love story and the events that occurred during their time in Oregon City seem very realistic and held my attention for the whole 5 hours it took for me to read it. It's a quick read, which in my opinion is perfect for summer. I will absolutely recommend this to friends and family and will probably even read it again.
Tainted Dreams is fantastic! I had anxiously awaited the sequel to Along the Way home and it did not disappoint. While I loved the first book, this one is even better!
It is beautifully written and I really felt immersed in the storyline and Jake and Kate's struggle to create new lives at the end of the Oregon Trail. I loved that there was enough action and deception to keep it interesting, but not at the cost of the heart and hope of the story. Kate is a willful and inspiring heroine, she offers an interesting glimpse into what it must have been like to be a woman in the unsettled west. Once again, Christi Corbett expertly blends history and heart!
This is a very satisfying sequel to Along the Way Home and I am so happy I could follow along on their journey. I highly recommend this book!
This book had a good lead in from the first one, but ultimately in many ways wasted it. The title is Tainted Dreams, it should have been "how many misunderstandings can happen in one book." Over and over and over again the two main characters misinterpret a situation, and react poorly. You love each other more than anything, yet won't take 30 seconds to clarify a situation before throwing a fit? I understand once or twice, but every single time? Also it seemed that, especially in the middle of the book, misunderstandings and outright stubborn stupidity were the only things advancing the plot.
